Writing to describe with Year 10.
At the start of the year, all of our Year 10 students produced a piece of descriptive writing.
They had a choice of two tasks: either to write a description inspired by the picture of the fairground above, or to write a description of a person they admire.
You can find a selection of their work in the comments on this post.
If you’d like to add some of your own, feel free.
Other students can then use it for inspiration for future descriptive tasks.

Just before Christmas, all of our Year 10 students had a go at writing a description inspired by the picture above.
You can find a selection of brilliant descriptive writing in the comments on this post.
If you’d like to add some of your own, feel free.
Other students can then use it for inspiration for future descriptive tasks.

Enjoy creative writing?
Here’s a chance to take part in a creative writing workshop with Leicester’s own award-winning author, Bali Rai.
Bali will be coming to Lutterworth College on the 16th October to open the library’s new reading corner.
While he’s here, he’ll also be running two creative writing workshops: one for Year 7 students and one for Year 10s. You’ll also be able to get hold of signed copies of his acclaimed novels.
If you’d like a place in a workshop, grab a letter from your English teacher or from outside the English staff room from Monday 28th October. You can also download it from the link below.
Places will be offered on a first come, first served basis – so you’ll need to be quick!
If you’ve any questions, see Mr Shovlin in L1A.
